Handicraft Village Szentendre
30 minutes drive from Budapest to Hungary's most romantic little town, Szentendre. Narrow winding streets, small houses, old churches and unusual history. The pretty Danube shore promenade faces an island. There is always handicraft fair and galleries of contemporary art. If you like shopping, this is paradise! There is an option to take a short visit among impressive Roman Ruins on the way.
On the way to Szentendre we pass the 2000 years old ruin-city of the Romans.
On arrival, we make a walking tour in the artists' town. Szentendre is like an Italian village with narrow, winding streets, small houses, old churches and unusual history.
There are two exhibitions in Szentendre, for which people come from all over Europe. One is the Mikrominiatures Museum: a collection of wonderful microscopic artworks made by Mykola Syadristy from Ukraine. The objects are so small that you have to look through a microscope to admire them! It is my strong recommendation to visit this small but incredible Micro-Art Museum. The other highlight of Szentendre is the beautiful, touching exhibition of a Hungarian peasant artist lady, Margit Kovacs. Her clay statues and figurative pottery stand alone in 20th century Hungarian art, and are part of Hungarian Heritage.
Besides, Szentendre houses the smallest Synagogue in Hungary.
