He is a passionate professional who is well-educated, articulate, very knowledgeable about his island home, well-traveled, extremely focused on the needs/wants of his guests, upbeat & fun.
After graduating High School, Roland attended college in Santa Cruz, California, and would eventually remain California-based for 15 years before returning to Hawaii in 2004. He is a working TV travel writer/producer (with credits on the Travel Channel's Bizaar Foods, AOL Travel, Time-Warner's OC16 and COX TV in California and Nevada) who loves sharing the amazing mix of "gems" to be found in Hawaii.
Roland is an avid "foodie" who has worked with Andrew Zimmern (of the Travel Channel's BIZARRE FOODS)and Karla Martinez of Univision's Despierta América. He is a seasoned cook, and an avid fan of the numerous eateries throughout Waikiki, Honolulu, and beyond.
Here's what past guests are saying about Roland:
". . . Our day with Roland was the highlight of our time on Oahu. We asked for a tour covering history and culture and that's what we got! Roland's passion for his heritage shines through. "
". . . If there ever was the need for an Ambassador of Aloha Roland would be the perfect candidate. "
". . . I certainly can tell you something about Roland: He has a heart for Hawai'i and for sharing the Aloha Spirit with those of us who visit. I mean that in the truest sense of the word: He speaks very fluently about the history of Hawai'i (and, of course, it's attractions) and the love that is here. It's obvious to me that he is a sensitive guy who is considerate of both tourists' needs and the needs of those who live and work here in Hawai'i. Honestly, Roland is one of the major reasons why I fell in love with Hawai'i, and one of the major reasons why I return here when I can. "
". . . I have travelled extensively around the world and certainly he offers a top class service. He is also a videographer/writer/producer who is always capturing and promoting local culture which makes him someone unique and hard to find. "

Excellent tour. Roland was great, very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. Toured many of the tourist areas, beautiful views and lookout points. Full circle island tour - sea turtles at Turtle Beach, shrimp at Giovanni's for lunch, malasadas at Leonard's Bakery. Coffee plantation, Dole plantation, Macadamia Nut farm, all at our own pace. Local history and culture stops included. Amazing 8 hours - highly recommend.
