3 hours - private walking / public transport tour of Hong Kong at night
Jamie | take a tour with a friend who brings Hong Kong alive one story at a time. Cultural Tourism at it's very best. . . . 46 years living in Hong Kong - I am the most experienced and most highly rated Private Tour Guide in Hong Kong.
I have completed over 2, 000+ private tours since 2011 so I know what I am doing, most of my guests leave the itinerary to me and I do discuss it when we meet and if you have special requests then time allowing we will fit these in, I do NOT have set itineraries and no two days are ever the same.
I do not do car tours, we walk + we simply have the best public transport in the world and it is far quicker to use public transport than a private car and you miss out on an awful lot of culture and what it is really like to live in Hong Kong peering out of the windows of a luxury car. All of our public transport is air conditioned, I have never used or owned a car in Hong Kong so I am somewhat of an expert on the subway, buses, ferries, taxi's and such!
The tour will include the Kowloon Promenade and / or the Ocean Terminal Deck and then Nathan Road and onto the Night Markets, truly a wonderful experience plus some little extras that will make the tour memorable
If you have specific interests then let me know and I can work these into the tour, generally speaking most of my clients leave everything to me given I have done over 2, 000+ tours and have lived in Hong Kong for 46 years.
I need to stress that I am NOT a foodie nor do I do food based tours but I know my food, I am happy to stop for snacks or at a restaurant if this is what you want to do, I have eaten at well over 1, 250 Chinese Restaurants since I arrived in 1972 and yes, I have some favourite restaurants, please note I tend to favour places that offer excellent food at relatively moderate prices.

This is a walking tour but we also use public transport to get from place to place if and when required, Hong Kong probably has the best public transport system of any city worldwide, it really adds to the tour experience!
It is hot and humid for 5 months of the year so remember to wear appropriate footwear / clothing. We do walk at your pace with plenty of rest stops and if walking gets too much then we use public transport!

Estimated Local Cash Needed
500 HK$ - This is a per person amount - It is always a good idea to carry a decent amount of local cash ie HK$ with you, a good supply of HK$10 and HK$20 notes + if you can get them HK$1, HK$2 and HK$5 coins . You can use this for transport, snacks, souvenirs etc... most markets in Hong Kong are cash only.
Most shops and restaurants accept credit cards but many older smaller restaurants are cash only.
Not covered in my fee schedule are:
The cost of any public transport such as taxi's, buses, mini buses, ferries, trams, The Peak Tram, The MTR , Airport Express etc.
Drinks / Snacks / Meals / Souvenirs, etc.
Entrance fees (where applicable) into museums, parks etc. the cost of these is usually minimal and in many cases free (with the exception of Ocean Park and Disneyland!)
For convenience I absolutely recommend purchasing an OCTOPUS CARD available from any MTR Station, it will cost you HK$150 including a refundable deposit and you can top it up at any convenience store, this card can be used on all public transport options (except Taxi's and Yellow minibuses) and you can use them at 7 - 11 and Circle K Convenience Stores, Supermarkets, Starbucks, McDonalds etc they can save you a lot of time and hassle even if you are here for just a couple of days.

Jamie was an exceptional guide for us. He is articulate, knowledgeable and witty. Wth him we saw many hidden secrets of Hong Kong which we otherwise would have walked right by. We enjoyed travelling on the subway and learning how the regular guy gets around in this amazing city. Thanks Jamie for making our experience so special!
