The ultimate way to explore the lowlands with your own private guide!
Ready for the real Holland adventure?
The best way to discover the countryside is by bike, like the locals!
Leave the city behind and join me on this great tour to the flat countryside just north of Amsterdam. Visit busy fishing villages with wooden houses, learn more about the beautiful lake side cities from the Golden Age, cycle along dikes and ditches, see wooden draw bridges and windmills, visit a cheese farm and wooden shoe maker, take the ferry across the lake and much more!
This tour is a summer only excursion. You should be able to cycle 20-30 miles in a leisurely pace (shorter trips are possible!). There is ample time for relaxing, sight seeing and (souvenir) shopping and of course we will stop for a drink or lunch in a typical countryside pub. If you wish you can even try a typical Dutch pancake!
It will be a great and unforgettable experience. Only a few miles from Amsterdam but yet totally different.
This is a full day tour. Half day tours are possible as well, just ask for details!
In the morning we will meet at the entrance of the iAmsterdam Visitor Centre in front of the central train station. From there we will make our way to the countryside by bus (approx. 30 minutes). We will start our bike tour in the charming village of Edam. From there we will visit charming fishing villages on our way. On our way I will tell you all the stories and traditions about these villages. We will have several stops in the villages for souvenir shopping and a typical Dutch lunch. We will also visit a cheese farm where you will learn how Gouda cheese is made. Our bike tour ends in Edam and from there we will return to the centre of Amsterdam (by bus, approx. 30 min).
This is an example of a bike tour in the Dutch countryside. More half and full day tours are possible, for example:
* Waterland tour
* River estates and lakes tour
* Windmill village tour
* Dunes and sandy beaches bike tour
* National Park & Van Gogh tour
Please ask for details if you are interested. Our country is a bikers paradise!

Frank was one of my favorite tour guides ever! We had the nicest day biking through Volendam, Monnickdam, and the countryside with him. He chose a great cheese farm/shop to visit and we had a wonderful lunch with him in Marken. Frank is very enjoyable to spend time with. My husband and I had many of the same interests so conversation was easy throughout the day. Frank plans great tours and is very patient with guests all throughout. I would highly recommend a tour with Frank!
