I am a licensed national tour guide (English) in north Japan.
Born and raised in Hokkaido and working for Hokkaido Prefectural Government for ages, I have been fortunate to go around almost every places and to live in some places in Hokkaido.
Hokkaido has a unique history and culture of Ainu, indigenous people to Japan. Different from sightseeing spots in other areas of Japan, which is mostly characterized with more than 1, 000 years of history, history of Hokkaido for Japanese is relatively young. But we boast of vast landscape, beautiful nature and history of pioneer days 150 years ago.
Because development of Hokkaido started with farming and fishery, we are still the largest producer of agricultural and marine product. So we can offer delicious food and sweets based on high quality and fresh ingredients.
Hokkaido has a distinctive four seasons. Snow and ice festival are held in winter. In spring flowers start to bloom. Open sky beer garden is held in summer. Autumn is a season of harvest and leaves change its colour. Each season shows you a different aspect.
I always try to show you a best spot at each season. Please let me help you bring back good memory to your country to enrich rest of your life.
I am looking forward to meeting you.
