As a scholar, I write about American religious history, social conflict, myths, and popular culture. As a public historian, I have been featured on several media outlets, including the Travel Channel, Raw Travel TV, the Science Channel (forthcoming), and various podcasts. Over the past ten years, I have taught at several colleges and universities. My book, Myths of the Rune Stone: Viking Martyrs and the Birthplace of America, is out with the University of Minnesota Press. Although I grew up as a farm kid in Minnesota, I have come to love Philly and its neighborhoods since moving here in 1995. I'm certified by the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides to offer guided tours of religious and historical sites in the city. I work with a wide variety of clients, but I am particularly skilled at leading tours for academics and international visitors.

I highly recommend David. He conducted a very thorough and interesting walking and driving tour of Philadelphia for my student group from France. David is a very professional and friendly guide. I appreciate his prompt communication and flexibility when planning our tour.

I can only offer driving tours if you provide the vehicle and a driver. I prefer not to give tours to student groups under the age of 18. College students and older are okay.
