Explore historic Hobart and meet our local wildlife
The morning of this tour is spent exploring Hobart - including the beautiful historic suburb of Battery Point (the birthplace of Errol Flynn!), driving out to Sandy Bay beach, and then onto the summit of Mt Wellington, where you will enjoy spectacular views (weather permitting).
The afternoon consists of a drive through the wine-growing area of the Coal River, where we can stop at any of the wineries, if you wish, as well as a local cheese factory. We visit Richmond, a lovely village with many convict-era attractions, including Australia's oldest bridge, oldest convict gaol, and oldest Catholic church!
We finish the day at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where you will meet many wonderful and friendly local animals, including Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, koalas and (my personal favourites) wombats.
The suggested itinerary for this tour is completely flexible. If you see places on the day that you would like to visit, I would be more than happy to arrange this. We can spend more (or less!) time in the recommended places, depending on your preference. My goal is to make sure you enjoy your day in Australia's smallest capital city!

Our tour with Ruth was FANTASTIC! The tour was completely customized and we did exactly what we wanted! Some of the highlights were the Cascade Brewery, drive up the mountain and Bonorong wildlife sanctuary. We saw so much that everything can't be listed. Ruth took pictures for us and knew so much about the area that we truly felt like a local for a day. Great tour with a fantastic guide!
