Westminster and 'The City of London, known as The Square Mile'
See/learn about London's most famous Westminster attractions: Royal palaces and parks, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, the Guard Change, Trafalgar Square, our National Galleries. . .
We carry on to another City--'The Square Mile' the earliest settled 'Londinium'--of the Romans--see their remains. On to the Tower of London, used as a palace, a fortress, a prison and site of execution now only lived in by the Ravens! Keeper of the Crown Jewels!
Wander through the medieval alleyways still surviving redevelopment. Hear about the financial/judicial side of London: and of it's Patron Saint commemorated by St. Paul's Cathedral--where our national heroes are memorialized and where Charles, Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer.
WHY TWO CITIES?
The Great Fire of London shifted all westwards when 4/5 of the City was destroyed. !Now so much has been rebuilt--we will see spectacular pieces of Architecture amongst its financial/insurance institutions, eg Bank of England, Lloyd's of London
The travellers can be met at their central London Hotel or at the underground stations near to where they chose to visit.
We can then go by public transport to visit sites chosen by the travellers.
Alternatively, I can supply a car and driver to take us to the chosen sites, but this would entail an extra charge to the one advertised here.
This is an 8 hour full-day tour which would include a lunch stop. I know of many fine cafes or restaurants around London where we could have our lunch break.
After lunch we will continue our fantastic tour of the Capital.
I find that the maximum number of site visits are best limited to 2 or 3 with either 1 or 2 walking tours around an area. This is your bespoke tour so you can chose!
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: Meet at 9am at the travellers' central London hotel or at an underground station near to our start point.
End location: Either at the travellers' hotel or any other location specified by them.
Duration: 8 hours
This is a full day tour
I guide using public transport, however for groups of 4 or less we could take a London taxi between sites.
If a group prefers, I could arrange for a driver and car (for up to 6 passengers).
Naturally, taxis and drivers will incur extra costs from that displayed here. I could create a customozed tour if a driver and car are requested.
The tour includes the services and knowledge of a qualified Blue Badge Tourist Guide. This is the highest qualification within the U.K.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
50 pounds sterling - This would include the cost of entry into two sites, such as Westminster Abbey or The Churchill War Rooms, for example.
Food and drink
But it can vary according to how one wishes to travel and the number and type of sites one wishes to visit. Sites such as the National Gallery are free, of course.
Entry fees at the sites which entail charges and chosen by the travellers.
Food/drink during the day.
I guide using public transport and/or on foot. I can arrange private transport if required.

Our family of 4 (including 25 & 17 yr. old boys) just returned from a month in UK and Ireland. We always use private guides when possible and Dianne is one of the very best. This was the first of 3 days with her. She is flexible (we did the Beefeater tour of The Tower on our own the day we arrived), organized (she had me get tickets in advance whenever possible), knowledgeable (our youngest son will major in history, so it can be a challenge to hold his interest), and a joy to spend time with.
