Visit the Atomic Bomb Dome and try Hiroshima's local specialty on Miyajima shrine island
Hiroshima is world famous for the atomic bomb dome but you can't miss Miyajima!
Explore Miyajima shrine island, Japan's top 3 most scenic locations. You will be greeted by wild deer there. 800 year-old Itsukushima shrine and its giant gate are very unique ones standing in the bay.
What you can enjoy on the island is not only seeing but also eating.
Why don't you try Hiroshima's local specialty, Okonomi-yaki? Egg, cabbage, pork, bean sprouts are cooked on a hot iron plate and put together like a layered pancake (See photo).
Miyajima is also the best place to eat oysters. Hiroshima is the no. 1 oyster producer in Japan.
The other destination is the atomic bomb dome and peace museum.
Hiroshima is the first city that suffered from the atomic bombing. Seeing and knowing what happened in Hiroshima gives us a good chance to think about our future, to share one world with love and peace.
