Discover the best historic, architectural and cultural hidden gems of the Pest side!
Downtown Pest is like a treasure box, let me help you to open it and take you to a beautiful hidden garden, an inner courtyard and with some splendid small squares of the Pest Palace quarter.
This tour is ideal if you have already seen the typical must-see attractions and would like to explore some other amazing places of our beautiful capital. Hidden Roman ruins, a centaur-like old church, a surviving aristocratic garden, an incredible library are all waiting for you to discover.
This is an easy walking tour on flat terrain and we also pass by numerous great coffee houses in case you would like to have a break. During the tour, you will hear interesting stories about the Hungarian culture, life in Budapest and about the most important milestones of the city's development. Join me on this adventure to see another face of the city!
This tour starts in the heart of downtown at the Ferenciek Square.
After hearing some interesting stories about the Klotild palaces we walk down to the Danube and have a closer look at the Inner City Parish Church (the oldest church in town!) and at the ancient Roman ruins hiding here.
Next up we visit the University Church, the Central Coffee House, and the splendid Károlyi Garden, the last aristocratic garden of its kind in Budapest. We explore the Unger House, a true masterpiece by the Hungarian star architect Miklós Ybl.
We also visit the ELTE University campus where a very special Holocaust memorial was created two years ago, which won an architectural prize.
We pass by the National Museum and as we walk on you will quickly understand why this area is called Palace District. We peek inside the amazing Central Library and finally stop at the charming Mikszáth square. Don't worry if none of these places sound familiar! That's the point, these great spots are not on the first page of your guidebook.
