Great sightseeing walk around Helsinki
I offer a fascinating walking tour (partly by tram, which allows to experience Helsinki local life) in the heart of Helsinki. Helsinki tells its story itself, different central parts are actually different parts of history of Helsinki and Finland. The historical center represents the traditions and architecture of the 19th century and tells us about the history of the Grand Duchy of Finland as a part of the Russian Empire. Art Nouveau architecture tells us a story dating back to the end of the 19th-beginning of the 20th century when there was a strong desire to break free from the past and to create a better world. Style Art Nouveau is abundantly represented in Helsinki making it one of the finest Art Nouveau cities in Europe. Functionalism of the 1930s, Modernism of the 1960-1970s (the works of world-famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto) as well as contemporary architecture show us the history of the proudly independent Finland. Helsinki is filled with stories I will be glad to tell you about!
With this sightseeing tour in the heart of Helsinki you will get acquainted with the most important milestones in the history of the city and the country. We will see major attractions of the city: the Senate Square and Lutheran Cathedral, Market Square, Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral, famous Church in the rock, the The National Museum of Finland, etc. We will walk along the Esplanade and then stop to have a cup of coffee in one of the cafes, for example, in a cafe Engel, with a magnificent view to the Lutheran Cathedral and Senate Square. Or we will just have a lunch in a traditional Finnish restaurant.

Olga is five star!!! Her walking tour of Helsinki showcased the best of the city's rich history and its vibrant present. We are left with a deep appreciation of the city and her people because of Olga's depth of knowledge and her obvious passion for the city and her strong belief in Helsinki's future. Thank you Olga for our tour and your kindness. Come visit us in Portland , Oregon even though our tour will not be nearly as good as yours!
