Explore Helsinki Archipelago by Private Boat

I take you by my boat to explore Nordic nature, Helsinki historical sites and great views of the archipelago. This is a nature orientated boat tour with an urban and historical twist. Short 20-30 minute boat trip via the archipelago takes us to the islands full of interesting sites and wild nature.

We start the tour from the city center by the main Market Square (Kauppatori). The Old Market Hall is a good place to buy some traditional Finnish bakeries and specialties.

After the archipelago trip we visit the most interesting highlights in the historical city centre e. g. Senate Square, Presidential Palace, Helsinki Cathedral, and Uspenski Cathedral.

My boat is parked next to the main Helsinki Market Square (Kauppatori). Before heading out to the archipelago we can enjoy the atmosphere of the old Market Hall or open outdoor market.

On island hopping we visit 2 or 3 islands on your choice. These are my suggestions:
1. The Sea Fortress of Helsinki Suomenlinna is no. 1 historical site of Helsinki with over 1 million annual visitors.
2. Historical Military Island - Vallisaari is a beautiful old fortress island
3. Guard Keeper Island - Vartiosaari is the wild nature sanctuary.
4. Lonna island is a tiny beautiful island with a nice restaurant and cafe.

Addition to these there are many other islands and seaside sights we can visit.

After the island hopping, we park the boat in the city center where all most interesting city highlights are in the walking distance. I guide you to the Old Market Hall, Market Square, Senate Square, Presidential Palace, Helsinki Cathedral, and Uspenski Cathedral.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I come to pick you up from a cruise ship terminal, airport or your hotel / accommodation in Helsinki area.

Duration: 5 hours

End location: I drive you back to your accommodation or a cruise ship terminal.

Duration: 5 hours

The archipelago boat trip takes minimum 3 hours (from pier to pier). A typical time is 3-4 hours at the archipelago plus 1- 2 hours for sightseeing walk at Helsinki old city center. It is possible to adjust the schedule based on your preferences.

At sea we travel by a 6 meters (20 feet) long boat with 100 hp. The boat is registered for 7 people.

On land we travel by a normal size station wagon family car. The car is spacious and comfortable for 3 adult passengers.

It is possible to book this tour also for 4 persons if 3 passengers feel comfortable to travel in a normal size family car's back seat. Drive times are short - about 15 minutes long.

What’s Included

Other: - My services as your personal tour guide, driver, and a boat skipper
- A possibility to visit unique nature and historical sites accessible only by a boat

This is a trip to the archipelago with a city twist. We travel with an open motorboat (6m or 20 feet and 100hp), so a bit of the elements may be part of the boat trip experience. All guests are provided a life jacket.

Your safety and comfort is my first priority. In the case of very bad weather we need to take a ferry instead of a boat. With a bad weather conditions the number of places to visit is also limited.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

20 euro - This is per person. You can buy some picnic food or lunch from the Cafes at archipelago or in the city center. The credit cards are accepted in the all shops and restaurants.

What’s Extra

Other: We can stop by in a cafe or a restaurant.

A Recent Review of this tour

Jaakko was incredible. He always responded promptly to my questions. When there was a mix-up on the train arrival time by me he clearly corrected the error. The boat ride on his boat to the fortress and another wildlife island was very cool. We walked in downtown Helsinki and we even found the PEAR ice cream my son had heard about. My son wanted to see the Olympic Stadium and hockey arena and Jaakko willingly obliged. A great day and a fun discussion of Finland's place in the political spectrum.
