On a 90 minute guided walking tour, learn the history of Harvard. You will hear the stories of the religious battles that defined Harvard's founding. Learn how Harvard's political and religious ideas formed the bases for the American Revolution. Hear the stores of the Harvard patriots: Sam Adams, John Adams and John Hancock.
As we stroll past the architecture from the 18th through 20th century, learn how Harvard students worked to end slavery and supported the Union effort in the Civil War. See the Harvard residences of Presidents, authors, and movie stars. Understand how, over time, Harvard changed from a Protestant based regional college to an international multi-ethnic university.
Enjoy the magnificence of Memorial Hall, Widner library and Memorial Church, as you see how they contrast with the buildings of the late 20 century.
Meeting and finishing in Harvard Square, this tour will be approximately one mile. While hearing Harvard's history you will enjoy the sight of Old Harvard Yard, the new yard and many of the prestigious buildings that surround Harvard Yard. The tour will then finish where it began, in Harvard Square. Entering Memorial Hall will depend on time of day and local events.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: The meeting place will be the first floor of the Starbucks at 1380 Massachusetts Ave. in the middle of Harvard Sq. The guide will be standing right outside the entrance with a small sign that says HARVARD. For an additional 175.00 groups of one, two or three can have pick up and drop of in the Boston area. A private car can be offered in a custom tour.
End location: The end of the tour will be at the Starbucks at 1380 Massachusetts Ave. in Harvard Sq. At the end of the tour the guide will be happy to direct the customers to the coffee shops, book stores and souvenir shops of Harvard Square or the museums of Harvard.
Duration: 1 hour 30 min.
If we are able to get into Memorial Hall the tour may go over 90 minutes.
This is a walking tour of less than one mile and there are no hills. For one, two or three, for an additional 175.00, drop of and pick up is available in the Boston area. The car is mid-size and air conditioned. A private vehicle will be added in a private tour.

Absolutely magnificent... who knew Harvard was much more than University? Such an influence on America and American History. Ted was fantastic, nothing was a trouble he knew his stuff and made it a pleasant way to stroll through the hollow grounds and feel part of it. I even want to go back to University :) !
