All ups and downs throughout the 1000 years of history of Ha Noi
Throughout its thousand-year history, today, Hanoi is developing rapidly, yet still maintains its own unique characters and traditional values including the Old Quarter as well as numerous temples and pagodas. The History and Religion tour will help you explore the highlights of Hanoi including Tran Quoc pagoda, Quan Thanh temple, one pillar pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo prison, Vietnam historical museum. I will help you to track back the history of Ha Noi, finding remains of the history in the present and giving you a full understanding of this imperfect but still breath-taking city.
We will meet each other in the lobby of your hotel. Starting the tour you will be brought back to the time when the West Lake was wild and free, this is the time when the Tran Quoc pagoda was built. Leaving Tran Quoc pagoda behind us, we will head to the next stage of history, the time when Vietnam has to fought against foreign feudal conquerors, the time when Quan Thanh temple was built. Leaving the big bronze statue in Quan Thanh temple behind us, we will visit the Ho Chi Minh complex, a must for all those who want to get to know the patriotic history of Vietnam.
At the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam) you will see that Vietnamese always were fond of studying. But before, that we will enjoy a fantastic traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
At the Hoa Lo prison and the Vietnam historical museum you will see the "modern" history of Vietnam.
At the end of the tour, you will (depending on your wish) enjoy a cyclo trip around Hoan Kiem Lake and finish up the day with a relaxing Spa massage.

Leon is an excellent tour guide. Although culturally Vietnamese, he's spent a great deal of time in the Western culture so communicated impressive insight to our myriad questions about Eastern philosophies, politics and customs. His historical depth of knowledge regarding the sites visited was impressive. He was on-time, the car was immaculate and the day spent quite memorable.
