5 Hour Scenic Tour - Ko'olau Mountains, Beaches, Temples and Landmark Sites
Good overview of the beautiful East Side of the Island of Oahu exploring the natural beauty and visiting historic sites. This is a visual road trip with Hawaiian history, culture and geology as we visit dramatic vistas, lava rock formations, sandy beaches, temple snuggled up against the mountains, and tropical rainforests. Viewpoints overlook historic battles, and the infamous Stairway to Heaven illegal trail.
We begin with the breathtaking Hanauma Bay - a pristine marine ecosystem - voted the Best Beach is the US 2016. Afterward we visit the lava tube - the Halona Blowhole - and From Here to Eternity Cove where the infamous scene was filmed along with other films like Pirates of the Caribbean. Next on to Sandy Beach where we get close to the pounding surf. Makapu'u Point overlooks two islands that are wildlife bird sanctuaries. The Byodo-in Temple is a peaceful place where black swans glide by. Then we head into the tropical rainforests to the top of the Ko'olau Mountain range. The Pali Lookout gives us a spectacular vista not found anywhere else in the world. No hiking on this tour. Light walking only.
