Explore the exciting Hakata merchants' area on foot
Fukuoka city was a twin town with its eastern area being merchants' town called Hakata and its western area being samurai warriors' town called Fukuoka. In this four-hour tour we visit several sightseeing spots located in Hakata area mainly on foot.
Tochoji temple, originally built in 806, is an esoteric Shingon Buddhist temple and a family temple of the Fukuoka's feudal lord Kuroda family.
Kushida shrine is the grand tutelary shrine of Hakata and earns full respect from the local people.
Hakata Machiya Folk Museum displays traditional local handicrafts and you can see what the lives of traditional merchants about 100 years ago looked like.
Kawabata shopping street is a 400-meter traditional shopping arcade. You can enjoy window-shopping here.
Hakata Hyakunengura (Ishikura Brewery) is the only local sake brewery in Hakata. You can sample and buy one of the best sakes in Japan.
Hakata station is the busiest railway station in Kyushu Island, with about 100, 000 people using every day.

Meeting location: I will meet you at either your hotel, your cruise ship terminal, or airport terminal.
End location: I will drop you off at Hakata station or any predetermined spot.

You can have a meal at one of the restaurants on 9th and 10th floors in Hakata station at around 1,000yen.
I am not a driver. I can arrange for a separate car and driver. In my tours I use public transportation or taxies.
