Half-day private tour to a Galilee Crusader Fortress
This half day tour includes a drive to the western Galilee and a two hour trek to the remains of a dramatic hillside Crusader fortress, built in the 13th century by the Teutons, a Germanic military order which played such a crucial role throughout the Crusader period. The history is fascinating, and the country you'll be walking through is rugged and beautiful, in a part of the Galilee that most tourists never see. After the hike to the castle you'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the Arab Christian village of Mi'ilya (known in Crusader times as Castellum Regis) nested in the Galilee hills, all of whose residents are Melkite Greek Catholics. After lunch it's back to your ship in time for a late afternoon nap.

First time in Israel, booked the crusader fortress (Montfort) ruins tour with Gary. I'm a 70 year old, retired from a desk job female. Gary was absolutely phenomenal - he lent me his hand or his shoulder and helped me all the way. Allowed me as many rest stops as I needed and took those opportunities to convey his wealth of knowledge regarding the history, geology, and culture of the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Gary. He is a great guide and a even better person. Highly recommend.
