My tours have included young and old, bus loads of 50 as well as private tours for one or two. I've given tours to judges, generals, doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, librarians, writers and travel agents. I also lead groups on tours across Canada.
Before I became a guide I made a living as a writer, editor and picture editor. I often traveled right across Canada looking for suitable illustrations for books about Canada's history and culture for some of Canada's best known authors including Pierre Berton.
From time to time I've been asked to design a tour. For example, one fellow wanted a romantic tour of Toronto. On another occasion a private school wanted a tour to introduce their students to multicultural Toronto.
I love being a guide. It's great fun introducing people to this remarkable city. Once a bastion of British immigrants it is now a cornucopia of different nationalities. It has played a pivotal role in the creation of Canada so there is much here of historical interest. At the same time the city now also reflects the cultures, music and food of the people from all over the world who have made Toronto their home.
