Itinerary

General topis of conversation;

Somerled Square; Introduction to Skye, population and history of the Sqaure, the first world war, the War Memorial, the buildings around the Square, dates, and significance of the buildings.

Bank Street; The lookout point at the top of the harbour across from the Royal Hotel. Prince Charles Edward Stuart, Flora MacDonald, Dr Samuel Johnson and James Boswell. The MacNabs Inn, and the fire at the Royal Hotel.

Harbour; The Highland clearances, the potato famine, the kelp industry, emigrations, herring fishing.

Skye Gathering hall; Portree's oldest buildings and the significance of the buildings.

The Lump; The Skye Highland Games, the Apothecary Tower, public hangings, unmarked graves.

And lastly we finish the tour at Portree Old Graveyard. Surnames, Francis Napier, war graves and a few local men of hugh significance to the area, such as Thomas Fraser, Thomas Skene, Dougald Maclachalan and Rev, James Reid, along with Scottish burial Customs and superstitions
