Modern and Contemporary Art in Venice
Picasso, Braque, Kandinsky, Klee; Malevich, Mondrian, Brancusi; Arp, Giacometti, Paladino; Dubuffet, Dalì, Calder and, of course, Jackson Pollock.
These are just some of the great artists whose masterpieces are shown at Ca' Venier Dei Leoni in Venice.
Formerly the house where Peggy Guggenheim lived, today this beautiful building along the Gran Canal hosts the wonderful collection of "Art of the XX Century" that Peggy herself put together during her life.
Peggy - the right woman in the right place at the right time, as she was referred to - fell in love with Venice in 1948, when she was invited to show her collection at the Biennale of Art: she decided to live here the rest of her life, and to leave to the City her house and the masterpieces she owned.
In the last years, many donations improved the number of art pieces housed in the museum: the Schoulhof collection has been exhibited since 2012, enriching the Peggy's one with more than 80 paintings by artists like Warhol, Burri, Fontana, Kelly, Twombly.
Meeting at the agreed meeting point, we will walk to the museum to visit it: we will see the garden, the permanent Collection and the Schulhof's one.
