Enjoy spectacular views of this amazing archaeological site!
Tikal was officially discovered in 1848. Since then, the multiple investigations of Guatemalan scientists and archaeologists and of many countries around the world make it possible to narrate the history of the society that inhabited Tikal, as well as that of neighboring sites.
Around the year A. D 600 Tikal was one of the most important cities of the Mayan area, with about sixty thousand inhabitants. The Chol group inhabitants of Tikal were large merchants, farmers and astronomers. They developed an extensive network of commercial contacts in the Mesoamerican area, mainly selling raw materials for textiles of the time, ceramics, technology, science and agricultural production.
The sunrise tour is not only going to see the rising sun, this is one of the best moments of the day (my favorite to be honest) to fully enjoy the experience of visiting Tikal.
