A brilliant memory
The Alhambra palaces reveal a series of Jewish traditions. The palaces recreate an earthly paradise, as the Coran and much before the Bible, in the Genesis, describe the Garden of Eden (Gan Eden in Hebrew), crossed by four rivers.
Beyond the splendor of the Alhambra palaces and gardens, the city of Granada displays a wonderful urban landscape, result of a blend of cultures throughout history. The city, nestled at the feet of the Sierra Nevada snowy peaks and the mighty towers of the Alhambra, houses treasures of art.
The historic sources let us know so much about the vibrant life in Gharnata al-Yahud, the ancient Jewry, like the position of the vanished and magnificent palaces of Samuel Ha Nagid and his son Yossef, viziers (ministers) of Muslim princes in the 11th century.
I have personally made a selection of verses composed by the Jewish poets of that time, which permit to recreate during this Granada tour the life, the history and the culture in Sepharad.
