Day tour in Jerusalem
Jerusalem is golden, and it's where it all started. Abraham was there on Mount Moriah with Isaac over 3500 years ago, David fought the Jebusites, composed the psalms and founded a kingdom. Jesus preached, lived and was crucified there, and the rulers of Islam have left their own indelible mark on the city. Probably the most dynamic, mysterious and holy city in the world, Jerusalem is an experience unto itself.
The tour begins with a bird's eye view of the city from the Mount of Olives and continues with a visit to the Muslim and Christian quarters. Lunch in the friendly atmosphere of the Jewish quarter, where you'll see some of the city's most famous synagogues, the "Burnt House" with its mute testimony to the terrible events from the destruction of the temple, and the Western "wailing" wall. Walk the ramparts of the old city - you will feel the magnetism, you will feel connected. I can create a customized tour for you if you are more than 4 people or would like this tour to start in another location.
The day starts with an overview of the city and the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives observation point. We then enter the Old City on foot through the Jaffa gate, tour through the Arab market, to the Christian quarter. From there through the Moslem quarter to the Roman Cardo and the Jewish quarter, including the Wailing Wall plaza. Lunch will be in a local restaurant. After lunch, a visit to the archaeological park or Mount Zion with King David's grave and the room of the last supper. Time permitting, after Mount Zion we'll walk part of the ramparts of the city wall, returning to the Zion gate by way of the Armenian quarter.
