The essence of medieval times and remarkable jewish past
Girona has something to offer. It's oldest neighborhood still remains close to it's XIVh century past. Some things change fast some others remain. Girona has some of old times that has prevailed. The famous show Game of Thrones choose the city as a film location for season 6. It's hilly composition makes the walking mandatory, and so are the stairs. Catholic churches form XII century, walls from roman times, Jewish past from more than 600 years. Girona has certainly something to offer to you.
To arrive to Girona by car from Barcelona takes from 1h20 to 1h40 depending on the traffic. Once in Girona the walking tour takes around 3 hours.
First we see the colorful houses on the river Onyà, typical postard of Girona, further steps will let us in the oldest part of the city discovering St Felix church, the old Monastery of St Pere de Galligans, the Cathedral. Very steep alleys of the jewish area called "el Call" bring to some parts of the ancient walls. Finally the city hall and Girona's own Rambla with a surprising bridge designed by Eiffel himself will show us back to the car and to Barcelona.
