A day excursion from Geneva to Montreux by train with a stop in Lausanne
Montreux is a traditional resort town on Lake Geneva. Situated between steep hills and the lakeside, it's known for its mild microclimate and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, Freddie Mercury and several other people of world-renown lived or still live in this region. Mediterranean trees and Belle Époque buildings line the streets. Offshore is a medieval island castle, Château de Chillon.
We will explore the Old Town of Lausanne, drive through Lavaux with its terraced vineyards (the Swiss Riviera), stroll along the lakeshore and through the beautiful streets of Montreux, marvel at the breathtaking view of he lake and the Alps and visit the Castle of Chillon, if time allows.
I'm not a driver, but if you have your own vehicle available, we can make adjustments to the itinerary. Please contact me for details.
In Lausanne we will visit the old town (Fountain of Justice, Town Hall, Palace de la Rumine, Cathedral, stroll down the elegant street, rue du Bourg and take the metro until Ouchy, if time allows.
