Tulip Festival and Public Gardens

I will give you a comprehensive tour of the gardens throughout the city. Everything from tulips, lilacs and apple trees in the spring and other delightful treasures throughout the year. I can either drive you or use your car or a vehicle you've rented (mini-van or mini-bus).

During the Tulip Festival I like to start by going to Commissioner's Park near Dow's Lake to walk amongst 300, 000 tulips. You will see a kaleidoscope of colours and tulips in all shapes and sizes.

We will explore the wildlife gardens, arboretum and nature trails to get the most of your visit to Ottawa and learn about our history too. We can go to the Mer Bleu Bog, Fletcher Wild Life Garden or Petrie Island to see some of Canada's indigenous plants and trees.

Let's work together on planning the perfect garden and history tour of Ottawa.

I recommend we visit the main tulip beds at Commissioner's Park as early as possible during the Tulip Festival in May as it gets very busy. From there we will visit the Ornamental Gardens, Fletcher's Wildlife Garden, the Arboretum and drive through Little Italy and China Town. We will cross over to the Province of Quebec to the Island of Gardens before heading to the Prime Minister's Residence and Rideau Hall. A short stop at the Rockeries is always nice as is a list to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stables. There is so much to see in Ottawa, that it is best we discuss what your specific interests are.

This will be a customized tour just for you.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: At your hotel, if it is located centrally or the east end of Ottawa or at a agreed pick-up location.

End location: The tour can end where the tour began, at a restaurant or a museum or gallery.

Duration: 6 hours

I will have a modern, clean mid-range SUV such as a Ford Escape. It will seat four passengers. An extra fee will be added if you want a larger vehicle, such as a 6 seat mini-van.

What’s Included

I will step into your vehicle - whether it is a car, van or bus. I can drive your vehicle (standard or manual) or give the driver directions.

Photography lessons are included - how best to photograph the flowers and each other.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

15 CAD - You may want to pick up a souvenir at the Festival locations. Beverages will also be available as well as Beaver Tails and poutine.

What’s Extra

If you want me to rent a vehicle, I would have to charge extra to cover that expense.

Since the tour takes place rain or shine, it is important you bring the right protective clothing so you are comfortable through out the tour. I recommend you pack some water or other beverage as well as your camera.

I do not provide last minute driving tours. I need at least 2 days advance notice for all driving tours.
