This 6 hour private tour gives you an extraordinary opportunity to learn about the history, current programs and future plans for space exploration guided by a real space expert. You will drive to the Johnson Space Center where NASA trains the astronauts and operates the US human space exploration programs. You will visit the Space Shuttle and the actual hardware used to send our astronauts to the moon. Your guide will explain everything you see and answer all of your questions in a way that you will easily understand. Then, you will go to the Kemah Boardwalk for lunch at one of the lovely waterfront restaurants. You will have some free time after lunch to enjoy a relaxing stroll, do some shopping or go on an exciting amusement ride before driving to the airport or your local hotel.
Your guide will pick you up at the Galveston Cruise Terminal as you get off the ship and drop you off at the Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) or a nearby hotel. This tour can be customized for other drop off points.
1. Pick up at the Galveston Cruise Terminal by private van.
2. Drive to the NASA Johnson Space Center.
3. Photo stop at the Space Shuttle. Your guide worked on this engineering marvel for 17 years.
4. Visit the Mercury/Redstone and Smokey Joe rockets.
5. Visit an actual Saturn V rocket that launched the Apollo astronauts to the moon. It's the full length of a football field… very impressive!!
5. Drive to the Kemah Boardwalk for lunch.
6. Free time for a leisurely stroll by the sea, souvenir shopping, or an exciting amusement ride.
7. Board the van at the Kemah Boardwalk main entrance.
8. Drive to the Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) or a nearby hotel.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: Pick up at the Galveston Cruise Terminal. After disembarking from your cruise ship, find your luggage, go through customs and immigration, and then meet your guide outside the baggage area. Look for a silver Town and Country van. Your guide will be wearing a red NASA baseball cap.
End location: Drop off at the Houston Hobby Airport (HOU)or a nearby hotel. You may make advanced arrangements with you guide for an alternate drop off location such as the Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH). The extra charges for alternate drop off locations will depend on the additional time and distance involved.

9:30 am Pick up at the Galveston Cruise Terminal after disembarking from your cruise ship.
10:30 am Start your guided tour at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

The van is large enough to comfortably carry 5 guests plus 2 pieces of checked luggage per person. Extra luggage or oversized luggage may require some bags to be stored in the passenger seating area.
Your private tour price includes the friendly, helpful services of a real space expert as your guide plus transportation in a safe, comfortable van. There will be a bottle of cold water for each guest in the van. The tour starts with your pick up at the Galveston cruise port when you get off the ship, goes to the NASA Johnson Space Center Rocket Park, then to the Kemah Boardwalk for lunch, and ends at the Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) or a nearby hotel.

30 $USD - Per person for lunch, snacks and drinks, not including souvenirs or amusement rides. You will be able to pay with any major credit card or cash.
Lunch at the restaurant in Kemah will be at your own expense. Prices for lunch are typically $15 to $30 per person, plus drinks. All major credit cards are accepted.
For an additional charge, you can be dropped off at alternate locations such as the Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) or a hotel near the Galleria shopping district, or the center city theater district, or the Amtrak train station, or the Houston bus terminal. Please coordinate your alternate drop off locations with your guide who will set up a custom tour to meet your specific needs. You will be able to pay these extra charges in advance using the on line system.
If desired, your guide will be happy to suggest hotels, restaurants, shopping venues, ground transport and airline flights that fit your needs and your budget, and will gladly adjust the details of your tour itinerary accordingly.
As a condition of service, all guests (or their legal guardian) riding as a passenger in my vehicle will be required to read and sign a liability release on boarding the vehicle.
