Gaelic culture and Music

Gaelic History & Culture
Cape Breton has strong roots with it's Gaelic history. During this tour we will visit the Highland Village Museum where you can learn about the lives of the Scottish settlers. Experience their daily lifestyle and learn about their Gaelic language. We will also visit the Cape Breton Gaelic College where students learn about the local music as well as many of the cultures traditions. Depending on the tour dates I will research the opportunity to see a Ceilidh, a local music gathering. Should time permit we will also visit the village of Baddeck before returning to Sydney.

Should your group of travelers be larger than 4 persons please inquire regarding a customized tour for your group.

Please note - Highland Village will close for their season on October 15, 2017.
We can substitute the Alexander Graham Bell museum if your tour date is after October 15, 2017.

You are picked up at the arrivals pier in Sydney. The order of the museum visits will be dependent on the tour start time that day. We will then leave Sydney to explore the route to Iona and Englishtown.
Once we arrive you will then be guided to the entrance of the Highland Village museum. This area requires that you take a 30- 40 minute walk to explore period buildings throughout the reconstructed village. On certain days of the week there are local musicians playing in the afternoon. We then will drive to the Baddeck area along the south route which runs along the Bra's Dor lakes area. The Gaelic College is just beyond the village of Baddeck. Here there are displays and activities that explore the Gaelic culture.
Time permitted there can be a lunch stop at a local restaurant in Baddeck. This tour is fully customized and we will consult upon meeting how you wish to spend your time on the tour. You are then returned to the arrivals pier area in Sydney.

Note - Highland Village closes its season on October 15
