Discovering the most beautiful little towns along the Danube river
I'll take you to the northern part of Hungary, the Danube Bend region is the most beautiful and the most romantic part of Hungary. That's where the Danube loops south, it's surrounded by amazing hills and mountains forming a heart shape. We'll see lovely little towns which once had been of great historical importance. The Danube Bend tour is about Hungary's history and culture and it's also about the picturesque views all along the Danube river.
Esztergom is a 1-hour drive from Budapest, it's situated on the Slovakian border. The town was the cradle of the Hungarian Catholic church and we'll visit the biggest church of the country, the Esztergom Basilica. We'll see the town of Visegrád a former capital of Hungary, a royal residence. I'll show you around the ruins of the extensive complex of medieval castles. Our last stop is Szentendre, a little artists' village which inspired many Hungarian painters and sculptors. The village has a really unique Mediterranean atmosphere and stunning Baroque architecture.
I'll meet you in the hotel lobby. We'll drive to the little village of Dobogókő so that I can show you the beautiful hills and mountains surrounding the Danube Bend.
We'll stop at the Esztergom Basilica, I'll show you around the church and we can also climb the stairs to the dome of the church. I'll show you around the medieval castle of Visegrád, you'll see the ruins of the 13th century medieval castle and the stunning view over the Danube Bend.
We'll walk around the cobblestoned streets of Szentendre, I'll show you the local Greek and Serbian Orthodox churches and the small art galleries and souvenir shops. We'll return to your hotel.
