Upriver Excursion

We begin with an introduction and we'll look at maps and discuss geography sitting down. Next we'll set out walking to discuss the architecture and the people that made the city in the swamp. We'll ride in a comfortable mini van up to the Garden District. Once in the Garden District we'll get out of the car to do more exploring. We can start in Lafayette Cemetery, the most beautiful cemetery, is nestled right in the Garden District. We'll go through the cemetery and understand why it is different. Please know cemetery closes at 2pm, but it is some what unpredictable. If cemetery is closed we will discuss the burial procedure outside the Lafayette Cemetery. We'll proceed walking through the streets taking in the grander of the palatial Garden District mansions.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: We'll meet at Sucre coffee shop, 622 Conti Street, between Royal & Chartres Streets.
Or if you prefer your hotel lobby.

End location: I can take you back to your hotel. However, many people enjoy having lunch Uptown and walking Magazine Street afterwards. Let me know, I am flexible!

Duration: 4 hours

We'll ride in my comfortable Honda Odyssey van, licensed and insured with the city. We can walk in some areas, but take advantage of the van to get us from neighborhood to neighborhood.

Walking & comfortable mini van.
We can do more or less walking, depending on your needs. It is hot in the summer, having the air conditioned van is great!
