A reconstructed 18th century French port and fortress site - A living history site.

Spend a half day enjoying the Fortress Louisbourg historic site, which is a reconstruction of an 18th-century French fortress and living history village.
From your arrival port we will drive along route 22 to the east shore area - 45 minute drive.
This area was designated as a Canadian historic site in 1920.
This fortress and village was started during the 1720's and is recognized as one of the most extensive European fortifications constructed in North America. Although it was strongly defended the fortress was built mainly for sea assaults. It saw a few sieges in 1745 and 1758 by the British who then held it until 1768.
The reconstructed village has opportunities to explore life as it was back then. You can visit the bakery, Blacksmith, the Inn and tavern. This is a step back in time experience.
After a visit of approximately 3 hours we will then drive back to your arrivals pier.

Should your group of travelers be larger than 4 persons please inquire about a customized tour for your group.

Meet at the pre-arranged meeting area once the tour is booked. We will then drive via private vehicle to the Louisbourg area then reaching the location of the site.
Once at the site we then exit the vehicle for bus transportation to the site. This transfer takes about 20 minutes. Once on the site you can then choose which areas to visit first. Your Tours by locals guide is there to assist during the visit. Interact with local interpreters and official site guides who play the parts of guards, innkeepers and local residents.
This is a fun and educational way to spend your day.
After the visit of approximately 3 hours at the Fortress site we will then return to the arrival port in Sydney.

***Please note - The facility has various operating hours during the year. Once you provide your date for tour request I will then reply with opening hours for that date.
Please contact me first to check the opening hours for your requested tour date.
