Have a taste of Odense
Join me on a food tour in my hometown Odense, with tastings and drinks that makes it up for a deliciously lunch, ending up with a cup of coffee or tea with pastries or chocolate.
We will start at the Central Station walk through the park, towards Odense Palace and the Saint Hans Church. We will continue to the old part of Odense where Hans Christian grew up. On our way through the old town we will visit several different speciality stores and taste local products. The tour continues around the old town along the river and into hidden squares - we will hear about food habits on the island Funen and generally in Denmark as well as stories about Hans Christian Andersen and the time he grew up in Odense. He lived in Odense during his childhood from 1805-1819.
Throughout the tour we will get tastings and visit several local places with focus on food and the good raw materials and processing of the products. Wherever possible, we talk to the owners themselves while tasting their locally produced products.
•Open faced sandwiches (Smørrebrød) with a beer or appeljuice
• "æbleflæsk" on ryebread with akvavit
•Delicious chocolate tastings
•Locally produced free-range meat or smoked fish
•Locally produced cheese
•Vegetable in season
•Coffee or Thee
Some of places we will visit to get tastings:
•Oluf Bagers Gård - a unique and recently restored building from 1586 - you can feel the past all over the place. The restaurant in the old horse barracks is run by Hindsgavl Palace, here we will get tastings of locally produced food
•Chokoladehuset (The Chocolate House) - Tine and Thorman love chocolate and uses only the very best raw materials
•Kramboden - a listed merchant's house from the 16th century. Inside the store is decorated like a merchant's store from the 19th century

•Hans Christian Andersens House
•Saint Hans Church
•Saint Knuds Church
