Private guided tour of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce churches with a bit of shopping
Besides the Duomo, Florence has some of the most outstanding churches of the world! Their history is amazing, as well as the importance of the works of art that they keep inside their ancient walls! These basilicas have seen tragedies, weddings, artists and bear witness of the developement of art and culture in Florence and in the world. We will see the dominican Basilica of Santa Maria Novella with its outstanding facade and its wonderful chapels frescoed by the main Italian Renaissance artists. After a shopping break to the dominican ancient Pharmacy, we will head to the Franciscan Basilica of Santa Croce to admire the frescoes by Giotto, the genius of the Middle age and the thumbs of many illustrious Italians such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo. During our walk you will admire the development of Florentine architecture from the medieval tower houses to the Renaissance palaces. If you are interested we could end the tour at the Leather school, just behind the basilica.
