A perfect daylong guided visit of Florence plus a whistle-stop in Pisa
This is the ideal way to get the feel of the city and to see some of its most famous examples of art and architecture. Your day starts early, as soon as you get off the cruise ship in Livorno, where you'll be picked up to go directly to Florence. On the way I will introduce you to the city, its origins and development through the Middle Ages and then the Renaissancce, the Grand Duchy, the unity of Italy (when Florence is briefly capital) through to today.
Our walk will start in the city center where we will see some unique examples of Medieval and Renaissance architecture, including the Duomo complex, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and onwards to the famous Ponte Vecchio. After a lunch break, some free time is available to look at artisan's shops (Florence's famous leather goods) and do a spot of shopping.
On our way back we stop briefly in Pisa to see Piazza dei (the Square of Miracles) with its Cathedral, its Baptistery and its famous Leaning Tower
Pick up at the port of Livorno.
