WW1, Ukrainian-Polish war, WW2, "Cold" War, "Hybrid" war- Lviv survives!
The worse thing a war does - it destroys a person not only physically, but also mentally
The worse thing totalitarian regimes do - they destroy the future of people, countries, nations.
This tour is at the edge of reminiscences and reality, it is rather a trip into the Past, covered with grief, dignity, doubts, but full of love, hope and belief.
We will talk about the five wars in Lviv and discuss how and why Lviv survived and survives. We will talk about people's destinies - not only the world famous names such as Lviv Professors Stephan Banach, Kasimir Bartel, Stanislaw Ulam (one of the "fathers" of nuclear bomb, which destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki), Rudolf Weigel, the inventor of anti-typhus vaccine, but also about unknown people, who were affected by the wars. It will be my personal overview of those five wars.
We will spend three hours on a mini-van and one hour on foot, visiting places related to the five wars. We will see Lviv University building from the outside, museum Lonsky prison, the former Gestapo building (outside), the monument to the shot Professors, the sights of two concentration camps -Shtalag and Judenlag, Rudolf Weigl's Institute of Epidemic Typhus, military cemetery, Holocaust memorial and two memorials to Stalin repressions. We will talk about people's lives, love, plans, inventions and reality. We will finish in the city centre, talking about the Hybrid war, which continues in Ukraine today and that each crime should be punished.
