Experience Hindu Mythology, Cultural Affluences and Rich Sculptural Content

The Elephanta Caves are 34 kms away from the Gateway of India in the city of Mumbai. The only way to reach the island from here is by a boat or ferry. The journey by sea takes 1 hour to reach the island.

The cave temples of Elephanta are dedicated to Lord Shiva. They are fine specimens of the ancient Hindu culture and tradition and are famous for their rock cut sculptures.

One can experience rich heritage and culture of India through these carvings including a celebrated statue of Shiva in his three-faced form.

The ferry ride is an experience by itself and not to be missed.
