A taste of local food and wine, meet a local artist, in Central Finland
We start our cultural tour in Kivipankki (meaning the bank of stone) built 1912 out of local grey granite originally from Jämsä, in Art Nouveau style. There are art exhibitions all year round.
Driving through Jämsä we continue on to Himos, where we visit the Art Gallery Veli Ähtävä. The artist himself will show you how his unique paintings are made and you get a glimpse of his beautiful home as well. Optionally, we can arrange another meeting with one of the prominent local artists.
Then we drive to Restaurant Patapirtti where we can enjoy Slow Food, excellent local ingredients cooked to perfection with love. Our hostess, the winemaker Mrs. Tarja will present us her farm and wines.
Uusi-Yijala Farm makes their own wine from local Finnish berries.
It is possible to extend this tour to Petajavesi Old Church, which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
