Drive to Évora, visit Museum town, taste Alentejo wines
We shall cross the 25th April bridge moving southeast for about 1h45 minutes. We will be visiting one of the capitals of province Alentejo, once located on one of the main roads of roman Lusitania province. This tour is and encounter with Évora glorious past, Portugal's second capital for some of the Avis dynasty kings. Evora is a classified UNESCO site for the last 25 years. Everywhere there are remains of the different civilizations that settled down here; Romans, Visigoths, Moors, Christians. Walk through its squares and streets with lime washed houses. EXcellent local cuisine. Land of cork trees and olive oil, agriculture is still a major activity for locals.
You will love to walk through the streets where locals live within History.
As an option I may incorporate an exclusive visit with Alentejo winetasting to a private estate - Herdade - just outside Évora.
After picking you up at your end in Lisbon área we drive south, crossing the 25th April bridge of Lisbon. Before getting to Évora we do encounter the fields of Alentejo with extensive cork tree forests.
Once in Évora, most of this city tour is done on foot. Starting from the previous roman forum, we will be visiting Diana temple, Loios convent, Cathedral, old University buildings, city main squares such as Giraldo and Portas de Moura, Graca convent, Saint Francis church with bones chapel and what is left from the King Manuel palace.
