Unique Visit to Airboat Captain's Cabin in the Everglades
Here is a chance of a lifetime to see how it feels to live in a cabin on an island in the Everglades! Captain Gerald will take you on a private airboat ride for a seven-mile journey to his cabin. Everything out there was hauled by airboat. The cabin features a third-story rooftop, with spectacular views of the area. The main cabin leads to a second cabin in the back yard. The front yard features a tall tree with a Red-Tailed hawk nest, currently occupied. Explore room-to-room, and see interesting posters, flags, newspaper clippings, and photos from the area's past.
This tour is for 1 or 2 guests. I can take up to 14 guests by customizing your tour. However, the vehicle used for the tour depends on the number of guests in your tour. If there are more than 2 guests, please email for a customized quote.
I will pick you up at the Port of Miami, and drive you (about one hour) to the airboat dock. Along the way, you will hear about invasive species of plants and animals that threaten the ecosystem. Then, meet Captain Gerald, and he will take you out to his private cabin. Explore the cabin from room to room, and see what it's like in this rustic home. Bring your own lunch, or purchase a meal from the food truck before the airboat ride. Gerald will have many interesting stories about the area. Then, enjoy the airboat ride, returning to the dock. On the drive to either Miami or Fort Lauderdale Airport, hear about plans that may, or may not, save this endangered "River of Grass".
