Experience a magnificent local event!
The eve of Timket (18 January) is called Ketera. On this day the tabots of each church are carried out in procession to a place near a river where the next day's celebration will take place.
A special tent is set up for each tabot, each hosting a proud manner depicting the church's saint. The ceremony is accompanied by hymns and dances of the priests, drum beating, bell ringing and blowing of trumpets.

Amanuel organised an amazing tour. I am a photographer and requested a customised tour of the Timkat festival in Gondar. He set out a perfect itinerary with a great driver - Seme and really good local guides, especial Abebe in Gondar. Amanuel provided all the information I needed but also understood my needs as a photographer. I would highly recommend him to organise trips within Ethiopia and I am definitely going back and requesting Amanuel for more itineraries.
