Travel back in time with a visit to the largest archaeological site in the region where you'll find the incredible remains of an extinct civilization on a mountain that provides astounding views of the landscape. Includes a visit and lunch in the town of San Felipe where you'll learn about Mexico's independence and get a taste of local life in the state of Guanajuato.
Itinerary
This incredible journey will take you to one of the most amazing archaeological sites in Central Mexico. El Coporo is one of the most important prehispanic settlements in the state, its name meaning "Over The Big Road" in the Purépecha language. From there, we'll have the option to hike up the mountain and see some of the most stunning landscapes in Guanajuato, photography enthusiasts should not miss this. After a 20 minute hike up the mountain, we'll reach the ceremonial center where the governants, priests, and astronomers used to live. In San Felipe, we'll visit the "Small France" museum, a house where Mexico's independentist priest started to plan his movement. It's a small hacienda with charm and some valuable information about the colonial period of Mexico and how life was like under the rule of the Spanish. We'll have lunch at a local seafood restaurant with a variety of Mexican tastes for everyone.
