This full day walking tour will tell you the long and complex history and reveal some of the many secrets within the two World Heritage Sites of Edinburgh. I will give you the all the background information to continue exploring later in your own time. We can begin with a brief look at Edinburgh's 200 year old Classical "Newtown". Hidden stories will unfold in the sometimes bloody past of Edinburgh, as we then make our way down the medieval "Royal Mile" from Castle to Palace steeped in history. We can make a detour to the University founded in the 1500's center of the 18C. "Enlightenment". We may pay homage to ghosts there that changed the world of literature, philosophy, politics and science. This include long and illustrious tradition of medicine in Edinburgh from grave robbers to Charles Darwin and Sherlock Holmes. We can take in the atmosphere during rests or coffee stops as required.
Walter Scott Monument. National Gallery, Princes Street Gardens. A brief walk through Edinburgh's Georgian Newtown. Medieval Old Town. Castle Esplanade, Lawnmarket, Grassmarket, Writers Museum, High Street closes and wynds. Detour to University Old Quad, St Giles Kirkyard. Cannongate Tollbooth, Cannongate Kirkyard, Secret garden, Holyrood Palace. We will end near a Taxi rank if required.

Meeting location: Meet at clients city center hotel. Optional location Walter Scott Monument, Princes Street Gardens or other landmark.
End location: Return to hotel or where required.

Toby was terrific. Our flight was three hours late from the States but Toby was there at the Edinburgh airport to greet us and take us via a scenic route to our hotel in Glasgow (avoiding the worst of rush hour traffic). We made stops at the the beautiful bridges at the Firth of Ford, past the Kelpies and a short walk up to the Falkirk Wheel. He delivered us safely to our hotel (Blythswood Hotel) so we could rest up from our jet lag for a full day of touring next day...
