This is a full day tour for enthusiasts of Church Art and decoration spanning three eras - Early Christian, later Medieval and Celtic Revival with particular reference to modern Churches and older monastic sites.
The early Christian sites are Kilmacduagh and Clonfert Cathedral. The later medieval sites are Portumna Dominican Priory and Clontuskert Augustinian Abbey and the Celtic revival sites are St Brendan's Cathedral, Loughrea and St Michael's Church in Ballinasloe.
The starting point is Galway City or other location agreed.
We visit the monastic site of Kilmacduagh in south Galway then to Loughrea and St Brendan's Cathedral and to Portumna and the Dominican Priory.
We continue on our journey in the afternoon to Clonfert Cathedral and then to the Augustinian Abbey of Clontuskert.
Our final stop of the day is to see the Catholic church of St Michael's in |Ballinasloe.
