Enjoy four hours of city views, markets and local flavors
Have a special afternoon (or quiet morning) in Taipei, traveling by metro, bus, taxi and walking in the markets. You pick the spots, special interests and any items on your food and shopping list. I'll provide you with the best route, translation and guidance to enjoy the city at your own pace.
Shops in Taipei are open every day from 11 am until 10 or 11 pm, some 24 hours. Spend four hours of your day the easy way, choose sights to see or to shop, and have a meal or local 'small bites' where and when you like it.
An ecological touring introduction to 'going green' on your own on a longer stay.
Departing from your Taipei hotel or Taipei Main station our trip can start in a choice of directions from a central location:
Travel West: visit the area around the Presidential Office and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to see the changing of the guard on the hour, and enjoy a local bubble tea drink or beef noodle specialty. Old Taipei's streets, markets and temples.
Travel East: see the view of Taipei 101, Sun Yat-sen Memorial hall and the modern Xinyi or Zhongxiao East Road shopping and entertainment districts.
Travel North: walk in the styled gardens of Chiang Kai-shek's former presidential residence, visit the National Palace Museum in Shilin (around 90-120 minutes)
Travel South: visit the 19th century Fujianese gardens of the Lin family mansion in Banqiao.
Next we can visit shops and food street markets nearby your hotel - anything you like, and travel to as many places as we can in the available time.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: your Taipei hotel lobby or Taipei Main station.

End location: wherever you choose to continue, or to go on your own - or we return to your hotel.
Duration: 4 hours
Taipei's metro is the fastest way to get around, and city buses in their own bus lanes are too. There are many inexpensive yellow taxis to fill any gap in our route, or to save walking and waiting time. We'll keep an eye on the weather, try to stay indoors when it's too hot or raining.
You can book this 4-hour tour for the afternoon or morning, but restaurants, shops, and markets generally open by 11 am.
the metro will whisk us between the center and all corners of metropolitan Taipei. From there we connect with city buses, or taxis if you prefer.
*Note* for cruise passengers: It takes up to 1 hour for public/private transport to and from Taipei each way. If we start in my hometown of Keelung, this would leave 2 hours of city sightseeing. You may want to consider a longer day tour like #8859 or #7192, or tour with me along the coast on #16305.
My services as a licensed tour guide and trip planner during your stay. Your bus and metro fares around town.

Christine was an excellent guide! It was our first time in Taiwan, and she gave clear instructions as to where we should meet her, and how to get there from our hotel. We were a group of 10, and she and her husband guided us to the perfect experience of culture, sites, history, and food! It was an experience we will not forget, leaving a very favorable image of Taipei, Taiwan, and all it has to offer! She was excellent, articulate, personable, and fun! Excellent tour guide, giving us a family feel!
