Eagles Nest and Third Reich museum including underground air raid Bunker
The famous Eagles Nest is worth a visit , an engineering wounder that it is built on the edge of a mountain, the bus drive up and down is an experience in itself, spectacular view weather permiting. But why and how did the NS regime build the Eagles nest and what was it's function ? On this tour thats what I will explain and give you background information about Hitler and the NS regime presence on the lower Obersalzberg area. Using the Third Reich museum (Dokumentation Obersalzberg) which I am authorized to do tours of, where we also have access to underground air raid bunkers.
The tour starts on the Obersalzberg near the departure point for the busses up to the Eagles Nest. First we go to the Third Reich museum (Dokumentation Obersalzberg) where I explain NS regime take over on this section of the mountain in Hitlers time. I will also show you and explain part of the underground air raid bunker.
Then we can proceed with the special public bus up the panoramic road to Eagles Nest. We will go into the Eagles nest house , were I will explain, construction, history function extra. You then have time to admire the spectacular view or enjoy a beer if you wish.
I will then accompany you on the bus down the mountain, and finishing the tour were we started.
Throughout the tour I use period photos to make everything a little bit more real.
