A half day tour exploring the culture and customs of the Zulu people with private guide
This half day tour offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about the culture and customs of the Zulu people in South Africa today.
The tour visits two sites nearby Durban, the PheZulu Safari park and the Zulu village of iSithumba.
At PheZulu Safari Park visitors are treated to a show that depicts in dance the traditional courtship of the Zulu people, as well as a short tour of the small model Zulu village.
At iSithumba, visitors are led about a contemporary Zule village in the heart of the Valley of 1000 Hills where they will have an opportunity to meet the chief of the village as well as the Sangoma (traditional healer).
These sites are a perfect place to start in learning more about the Zulu people in a short period of time.
We depart Durban at 8am and travel directly to PheZulu Safari Park. On this 45 min journey I will explain to you the history of the Zulu people as well as how they fit into today's contemporary society.
On arrival at PheZulu Safari Park we will be entertained be a 30min dance show that depicts the traditional courtship of the Zulu people.
After the show we will depart for iSithumba village (30 min way) where we'll be met by a member of the community who will take us on a guided tour of the village. This takes 90 min.
We will then return to Durban at approx. 1pm.

End location: I will drop you off at your accommodation anywhere in the Durban and surrounding areas.
Duration: 5 hours
The visit to iSithumba is best taken in good weather. Should it be raining, we will visit the Zulu markets instead.
We will utilise either a 10 seater air-conditioned vehicle or a air-conditioned sedan depending on the size of the group.
Entry into PheZulu Safari Park and the cost of the guide at Isithumba village. Complimentary bottled water will be available.
