learn about the history of the jewish community in Dubrovnik and experience the walk on Dubrovnik's fascinating fortifications
Jewish heritage of Dubrovnik is a walking tour that has a special emphasis on the history and the culture of a small but notably influential jewish community in Dubrovnik. The tour takes you to the Dubrovnik's synagogue and the Museum of the Jewish heritage located in the former old jewish quarter. The syngogue with its valuable museum is particulary regarded as one of the most exceptional monuments in Dubrovnik.
The tour is also combined with the sightseeing of the Dubrovnik's Old town and with a visit to monumental City walls, Dubrovnik's most famous and major highlight. Along our walk on the walls you will enjoy the most amazing view on the Old town of Dubrovnik and also learn more about this marvelous defense system whose construction encompasses time period of over 500 years. Altogether, this extended tour takes a little physical strain, but I believe it is worth the effort and I am confident that you will agree with me when you experience it yourself.
Tour starts at our meeting point, at the Pile gate, from where we will continue our walk to the entrance to the City Walls which is located at the beginning of the city's main street Stradun. Ofcourse, since the tour lasts 3 hours it depends on your wishes if you want to start the tour with the sightseeing of the city or with the visit to the city walls. Final stop in the tour is a visit to former jewish quarter, Dubrovnik's synagogue and the Museum of Jewish heritage.
Alternatively, it is possible to switch the wall walk for a visit to some of Dubrovnik's museums, such as the Franciscan monastery's ancient pharmacy museum or Dubrovnik's history museum.
