Part sight-seeing, part pub tour of Dublin city
This walking tour reconciles your thirst for knowledge with your actual thirst, as well as reconciling Dublin's British heritage (Trinity College, Dublin Castle) with its Irish one (GPO, the pubs).
How this tour works:
Sights: This 4hr tour takes you through the most important sights in Dublin. The stories and histories connected with them, explained by your exceptional guide, will transport you through the years, passions, pains and legacies of the Irish people.
Pints: Would you rather stand still in the cold for 10 minutes while I explain where Northern Ireland came from, or prefer to be seated in a warm pub, beer in hand?
Some big topics, e. g. Irish Language, Celtic Tiger, are best explained when you're nice and comfortable, so we'll pop into a (great) pub every 20-40mins. Besides the history lessons, you'll learn about beer, the Irish pub, as well as partake/witness in an activity that the Irish are renowned for - conversation.

The bohemian Temple Bar quarter
The oasis that is the serene campus of Trinity College
Ha'penny Bridge - famous icon of Dublin
The GPO - the heart of the 1916 Rising
The impressive Old Parliament building
Georgian Dublin - parts of the city preserved for 200yrs
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: Ideally, we should start in a pub (TBC when I learn of your accommodation location - I want to make it convenient for you).
We could also start in your hotel lobby (if central enough)
End location: We will finish in the city centre wherever you specify.
Duration: 4 hours
We aim to be no more than 30mins in a pub (when just drinking) so any delays will naturally affect the amount of sites we can visit.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
40 euros - Depends on how hungry and thirsty you'll get during the 4hrs, but we'll stop for a meal and at least two drinks.
I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.
Guiding inside some attractions, e.g. Trinity Library, Dublinia, is restricted somewhat.

Garvan provides a comprehensive overview of central Dublin. He made the history and culture come alive with dramatic and humorous storytelling. Our visit to two Dublin pubs gave us time for beers and whiskey along with discussion time about issues facing contemporary Ireland. Garvan has a wealth of knowledge along with a young spirit. Our group highly recommends him.
