My training was by peer review and has allowed me to become a more rounded and complete guide as a result. I look to provide rich and highly tailored tours for all my clients. The tours themselves are standard, it is the customer service I seek to provide that makes them special.
It is you and your party that I am interested in. This is what makes my work so enjoyable. I love meeting people, I love sharing my land and its heritage. From the stories of history and beautiful scenic landscapes and city streets to the textures of the linens and wools, the taste and smells of traditional Irish foods it is always specific to you. Be prepared for lots of questions from me at first! The results will be fabulous and delicious! The memories layered and rich.
I offer a wide range of tours from my home town of Dublin into Ireland's Ancient East. From the pre-Celtic Royal Sites of Tara, Newgrange and Uisneach to the early Christian sites of Glendalough I will immerse you in the stories and legends of Ireland's unique past.
Closer to home in Dublin, I will take you through the streets of the city and its layers of history from the Celts to the Vikings, Anglo-Normans and into Georgian Dublin. The modern bustling tech capital of Europe also awaits with its mix of old and new, a modern Irish evolution that has transformed a new generation.
Irish food, particularly traditional and artisan, is a life long love of mine. I worked in the organic and artisan food world for 30 years. Whether you are looking for the best Corned Beef and Cabbage or Irish Breakfast Tea served with a scone, butter and jam you only need to ask.
Food is included in almost all my tours; a stop off or a lunch stop you will get the best. The secret is in knowing where to go! This is a standout in all my clients feedback.
Why don't you come join me on a trip down some of our beautiful lanes and hear the stories that still hold true today as always.
A Recent Review of this guide
We came into Dublin and had and had free time that evening before we started touring the next day. Jim has a private gourmet food tour of downtown Dublin that looked like a good way to be introduced to the local food scene. What a perfect way to start our trip! Jim is a wealth of knowledge about Ireland and Dublin. We loved hearing about the history and local lore of a country. He also tailors the tour to your tastes, we had locally sourced cheese and meats, and organic wines, Great fun thanks Jim!
