A walk in Soviet Sochi!
The seaside city has curiously preserved something of the Soviet era. A walk in the center of Sochi can help to convey a sense of this, the city of dreams for all Soviet tourists together with a sense of time when it was founded.
Sochi owes much of its development to Stalin. «The Father of Nations» vacationed here every year and actively contributed to the transformation of a provincial southern town into a pan-USSR national health resort.
I suggest first to get a bird's eye view of Sochi from the Mountain Akhun (600 m above the sea level). It gives one a feeling of flying in a helicopter and enjoying a splendid panoramic view of the mountains, the city and the Olympic park.
- Mountain Akhun and observation tower.
- Visiting Stalin summer residence (Stalin dacha)
- Soviet time sanatorium (SPA hotel)
- Sochi Railway station
- Sochi passenger seaport (a great photo opportunity)
- A local promenade and Winter Theater
